Project Description

ELABORATION

Aldeasoña 2010 comes from three hectares of a 65 year old Tempranillo vineyard located in loamy clay soil and situated at 810 meters altitude in the municipality of La Horra
The plots were harvested manually on 12th and 13th October 2010, into 15kg boxes and bunches and grapes were received onto a double selection table at the winery.
Fermented and macerated in small cement tanks at a controlled temperature for 29 days with daily plunging of the cap and pump overs.
Aged for 24 months in 225 litre French oak Bordeaux barrels.
A total of 6,137 750ml bottles were obtained with no filtering or clarification processes used in production.

METEROLOGY

After a magnificent 2009 harvest, we could not possibly have hoped for such a fantastic 2010. Following a tough winter, a harsh frost took us by surprise in May and this, together with strong winds and rain in June, resulted in a reduction of 25% in yield. Until that moment we had not predicted a particularly good harvest but then suddenly, everything changed. Summer brought ideal temperatures for the vines, hot days and fresh nights, which brought about excellent ripening of the fruit. This low yield of perfectly mature grapes allowed us to produce wine of excellent quality.
