The Aragonés grape variety was used for the production of this wine, originating from 9 hectares of pre-phylloxera vines planted in the first decade of the 20th century. These vines are distributed over a total of 36 plots with yields no higher that 1,500 kg per hectare.

Bunches and grapes were carefully selected and the wine was aged for 23 months in new French oak barrels from different coopers.

A total of 7,197 bottles were bottled in October 2007 (750ml) and certified as Castilla y León “Vino de la Tierra.”


Grape variety: Aragonés
Vines of between 85 and 101 years old, situated at between 760 and 970 metres above sea level in soil with sand, clay and limestone content.
Manual harvest into 15kg crates.
Bunches were received at the winery on a vibrating sorting table for bunch selection.
Destemming at low revolution using a Teflon “tree and basket” system.
Grapes were received at the winery on a Mistral vibrating table for grape selection, which uses an air-jet sorting system to remove grapes of unsuitable size or weight.
Alcoholic fermentation in 5,000 kg stainless steel tanks with an automatic temperature control system.
The processes of plunging of the cap, pumping over and racking and return of the wine were constant throughout fermentation.
Malolactic fermentation in barrels
Ageing for 23 months in 225 liter Bordeaux new barrels made from 100% French oak.
“Vino de la Tierra” Castilla y León


The 2005 Aldeasona is a worthy successor to the superb 2004. Made from 100% Tinto del Pais (Tempranillo) sourced from ungrafted 95+-year-old vines, it was aged for 23 months in new French oak barriques. Exotic spices, lavender, incense, espresso, black cherry, and blackberry aromas inform the nose of this dense, layered effort. In the glass loads of savory black fruits emerge along with plenty of fine-grained tannin. It will evolve effortlessly for another 5-6 years and drink well through 2030 if not longer.
